President Obama issued signing statements this morning banning torture, closing Gitmo and creating a panel to review and recommend how to legally deal with the hundreds of enemy combatants in US custody. The administration also gave it’s first official press conference today. We will also discuss the stunning revelations from NSA agent Russell Tice about the extent and scope of the bush illegal wiretapping program. Following her rousing reception at the State Department today Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was joined by VP Biden and President Obama in a ceremony announcing special envoys Richard Holbrook to handle the Pakistan/Afghanistan situation and George Mitchell on the Israeli/Plestine conflict.
